2014-15 District Champions

Flint Metro League Champions in 2008-2009, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015!
Flint Metro League “Back-to-Back” Champions, Class “A” District Champions and “Sweet 16” Regional Finalists!
After inheriting a team that went on to win only 1 game in ’05-’06, Holly’s 10 wins in Coach Lance Baylis’ 2nd season (06/07) represented the single greatest turnaround in the last 43 years in Holly basketball history. The 12 wins in ’07-’08 represented the first time in 8 years that Holly High School had back-to-back 10+ winning seasons. In 2008-2009, Holly got off to its best start in school history with a 13-1 record on its way to the ’08-’09 Flint Metro League Championship. That year’s 19-3 overall record was the 3rd best in school history. The 16 FML wins that season were the MOST in school history. In 2009-2010, Holly followed up with an 18-5 record.  The team finished the season winning 15 out of 16 games before losing in their 2nd straight District Final appearance.  In ’13-’14, Holly earned an outright Flint Metro League Championship by going 13-3 in FML play and had an overall record of 16-5.  In 2014-2015, Holly went a school record 22-3 while winning their 1st District Championship in 33 years and first Class “A” District Championship EVER!  The team won an incredible 19 straight games while earning “BACK to BACK” Flint Metro League Titles and going to the Regional Finals where they lost 73-71. This past year Holly went 14-7 and finished 2nd in the Flint Metro League. Holly has now finished 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the 8-team FML for 9 consecutive years – the longest current streak in the league.  This past year, Holly completed a 22 STRAIGHT Flint Metro League winning streak – the 6th longest in league history.  Holly has now won 10 games or more for 10 consecutive years.  Over the last 8 years, Holly has won 75% of ALL its games, 80% of its Flint Metro League games, and 80% of its home games WHILE averaging 16 wins per season over those same 8 years.  Holly set records in ’14-’15 for most wins over 1 year (22), 2 years (38), 3 years (51) and 4 years (66).  Holly Boys’ Basketball has also had its share of success in the classroom by garnering “Academic All-State Honorable Mention” in ’11-’12, ’12-’13 and ’14-’15.  Coach Baylis just completed his 11th year as Holly High School’s Varsity Boys’ Basketball Head Coach.  He is 1st on the All-Time list of Holly Varsity Boys’ Basketball coaching victories with 154 wins.  He also moved into 6th Place on the All-Time Flint Metro League coaching wins list with 122 victories.  The Oakland Press named Coach Baylis “Oakland County Coach of the Year” for the 2014-15 season.  16 players have now gone on to play college basketball in the last 8 years including FOUR (4) D2 players: Nic Stoll (Michigan Tech University), Thomas Lovachis (Hawaii Pacific University), Jake Daniels (Saginaw Valley State University), Ian Hodges (Northern Michigan University).
