Good Afternoon Student Athletes and Families of Holly Athletics,

Earlier today, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services extended the Epidemic Order that was issued on November 15, 2020, through Friday December 20, 2020.  Based on this information, all in person athletic and club activities in the Holly Area Schools will continue to be suspended until this order is adjusted or lifted.  All activities within athletics or our clubs must be done virtually during this time.  In response to this information, the Michigan High School Athletic Association released the following statement:

We realize the crisis our medical care givers and first responders are navigating and understand the need to continue the pause.  However, the MHSAA had provided a detailed plan to both Governor Whitmer and MDHHS that would have completed fall tournaments with no spectators as safely as possible during the month of December along with allowing winter sport practices to resume.  While we are disappointed in today’s announcement, we will continue to look forward as we remain committed to play three sports seasons to their conclusion.  The MHSAA Representative Council will meet this Wednesday to chart out another plan for finishing fall and restarting winter seasons.

We will continue to follow the guidance from the MDHHS and the MHSAA Rep Council in regards to the re-engagement of athletics and clubs.  As more information becomes available, I will be sure to share it via email and on our social media outlets.

I would encourage our students to continue to stay positive and working hard in their classes.  I know that times are very difficult and I miss seeing all of you competing in the sports and clubs that your love.  Please know that your coaches, teammates, teachers, counselors, as well as myself, are all here for you and care deeply about you.  If you need anything, please feel free to reach out.  We will find a way through this.

I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during these challenging times.

Take Care,

Mr. Lombard
